About Litera Capital

Litera Capital is a private, middle market investment firm that invests in the debt and equity of public and private companies and other asset classes.

We are fundamentally value-oriented growth investors. Our purpose is to generate superior absolute risk-adjusted returns over the long-term, while serving and advancing the greater good.

Litera is a Latin word with many meanings:

Literature

Learning

Wisdom

Etymology of the firm

At its root, litera means “letters,” the irreducible core of language and the fundamental building blocks for communication.

A focus on finding alpha (α) by applying our definition of delta (Δ) to the due diligence process.
At Litera Capital, we are grounded in market and economic fundamentals and our investment strategy can be reduced to two letters:

A focus on finding alpha (α) by applying our definition of delta (Δ) to the due diligence process.

Belief System

We are agnostic to company stage and industry. Instead we believe in bright ideas and the best people to bring those ideas to life.

Guiding Principles

  • Our core asset is our reputation

  • We are forthright to a fault and expect the same in return

  • We are equally driven by curiosity and compassion and always conduct ourselves with integrity

  • We do what we believe is right, even when it runs contrary to the consensus or conventional wisdom

  • We are never satisfied with status quo

Company building is about far more than capital

At Litera Capital, we are a catalyst for the courageous. We partner with Goldilocks Entrepreneurs—those with just the right mix of boldness, humility, optimism, curiosity, and grit to change the world for the better. In every partnership, we serve founders and their teams as a Δ multiplier, investing our expertise, experience and empathy toward building companies that make a difference.

We define Δ as:

Trajectory

A defined path and time to market, accompanied by the necessary momentum

Change

A concise understanding of how the innovation will replace, improve or transform the current way of doing things

Difference

With our emphasis on impact beyond investment return, this is a clear statement on how the innovation will serve or advance the greater good

By stacking Δs and investing not only our capital, but our reputation, we seek to accelerate the rate of change.
